With 457 beds (80% single rooms), and over 13 700 surgical procedures performed last year, we are undergoing tremendous growth as we strive to serve the community. The National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP) was introduced by the American College of Surgeons in 2001 and was the first nationally validated, risk-adjusted outcomes–based program designed to measure and improve the quality of surgical care in the United States. We joined the Ontario collaborative in 2015.

The Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the OTMH is comprised of Orthopaedic Surgeons with extensive subspecialty and fellowship training in a wide variety of surgical techniques. We are equipped to offer state of the art procedures in the areas of computer assisted surgery, complex upper extremity reconstruction, advanced sports medicine, hip arthroscopy, adult reconstruction including complex arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty, foot and ankle conditions and trauma. Many of the Orthopaedic Surgeons at the OTMH hold academic positions at nearby universities. The team produces valuable Orthopaedic research which is published in peer reviewed journals.

We do advanced laparoscopic and colorectal procedures such as laparoscopic hernia repair, colonic resections, transanal minimally invasive surgery for local resection of rectal lesions (TAMIS), transanal total mesorectal excision for resection of rectal cancers (TaTME), laparoscopic gastric resections, and many more innovations.

Plastic surgery is a specialty that focuses on restoring, reconstructing and/or altering the body to enhance both form and function. The name plastic surgery is derived from the greek word plasticos, meaning molding or shaping. Plastic surgery is a diverse specialty and includes the fields of burns, craniofacial surgery, hand & peripheral nerve surgery, breast surgery, skin cancer surgery, wound care, aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery and oncologic (cancer) reconstruction.
The Division of Plastic Surgery has recently expanded. We have surgeons with extensive experience and sub-specialty training in surgery of the breast, hand, peripheral nerves, micro-surgery and cosmetic surgery. We treat a high volume of patients with trauma of the upper extremity and skin cancers. Our Division prides itself on excellent breast reconstructive care including both delayed and immediate reconstructions. We offer nearly all manner of implant and autologous (your own tissue) reconstruction. We aim to provide exemplary care for patients.

The Division of Urology is focused on caring for Halton’s growing population, with a particular attention to the increasing proportion of those men and women over 70. As the number of new Urologists in the HHCS has grown to 5, each member brings a particular set of skills to ensure that Halton’s residents can receive care in their Home Community

Services provided include surgical bypass and repair of aortic disease, peripheral vacular disease, mesenteric ischemia, venous disease, carotid disease, AV access for dialysis, diabetic foot care. Endovascular treatment is also offered. In addition, we offer endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) to fix aortic aneurysms without open surgery.
